Remembering Lake Powell

My family has been to Lake Powell A LOT in my life time. We started going when I was around 8 and it was almost an annual thing from then on. (some years we didn't make it, but some we went twice!) I personally haven't been since I was so barely pregnant with Conner that I didn't even know it yet! Each year is different and full of different memories. Here are some super duper fun things we can remember about Lake Powell 2013....

Remember how Conner's first throw up stop of the ride there made us stop by some cool train tracks! (don't worry, we only had to stop twice:))

Sophie just chillin' at said throw up stop.
Remember how the first day was SO windy that our tent fell down? You can barely see it but up in the right corner there is a little gray blob that used to be our little Lake Powell home.

But have no fear! We rebuilt in a different, less on top of a hill where the wind was the worst, place.

Remember how C slept so so good and never wanted to wake up? Too bad he didn't carry that little habit home with him.

Rainbow bridge
On Friday we went to Rainbow Bridge. Or "the rock rainbow" according to C.

Remember when Soph and cousin Ellie both had giant flowers on their swimming suits! Not planned at all.

Remember when Conner peed in a bucket?  On the ride to rainbow bridge (like 2 hours) C had to go potty SOOOOO bad. He was crying so hard and just miserable . We were about 10 min. away from one of the floating potties and we told him that he could go in the lake or wait a few minutes. He tried the lake thing and it just didn't work and he was just so so sad so we found a little blue bucket and set it on the swim deck and lo and behold he was not afraid to sit on and pee in the bucket! From then on every time he had to go potty for the rest of the day, even in we were close to a potty, he'd ask for his blue bucket. silly kid.

Remember how Rusty was super dad on the hike? Ok so this only lasted a bout 5 min or less (mostly because C doesn't understand the concept of "holding on" as you can probably see) but it was a valiant effort.

Remember when C shot everyone in his path with his blue squirt gun the whole trip? Including daddy!

Remember how my shoes were so full of sand after the hike?
A Camping we will go

C loved building sand castles...or sand blobs which is what they turned out to be. good try bud!
mmmm marshmallows!

Remember how Soph was the happiest little camper baby? She did awesome!!!

Remember how Ellie and C were shooting Rusty with a squirt thing and we kept telling Ellie to get Uncle Rusty and soon Conner was saying "I gonna get Rusty!" no, Conner, you get daddy.

Remember how none of my kids EVER look at the camera for a family photo?

Remember when Sophie floated around in her little tube? She was splashing and laughing and had lots of fun. (even though her face in this pictures suggests otherwise)
Slippety Slide

Remember when Conner was so excited to go down the houseboat slide? He ran and started going down without a second thought...

Until he got to about here and realized that this was no ordinary slide...

and then he freaked out when he flew into the water. We asked him if he wanted to go again and he said "No, I need to be bigger."

"Conner water is fun!" nope mom, it sure isn't.

Remember this graceful slide from uncle Zach?

Even Grandpa had a go at it!

On the boat

Remember when Uncle Zach thought he was a model?
Remember when Sophie thought SHE was a model?

Remember how I, MaryAnne, got up on the second try after not skiing for oh, probably 4 years? Hooray! (and remember how it's been 4 days and I'm still feeling the after effects? stupid out of shape muscles)

Remember how Conner was the best flag holder there ever was?

Remember how after mommy and Uncle Zach did their thing Conner really REALLY wanted to ski? (but not get in the water because it's scary) Grandma and Zach helped him out.

Remember how my kids are super cute? (even though Conner never ever ever smiles...)

...Unless he's on a rock. Remember how on the way home we made a pit stop to let C run around and he found a giant rock to play on "It's my best!" he said.
So there was Lake Powell this year!! It had some up and downs but it was so much fun :) Thanks sooo much mom and dad for all of the fun memories and taking our family on these fun trips! Love you guys! We had a blast!
