This was an amazing book! It is the story of Clara who is 1/4 angel blood (her mom is 1/2 and her dad is full human) Her mom tells her when she is 14 and explains that soon she will receive her purpose, a vision explaining the one thing that she was put on this earth to do. When she is almost 17 she receives her first vision and through clues that she and her mom put together, they figure out it is supposed to take place in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. So what do they do? They move there of course!

In the vision it shows that she is supposed to rescue a boy, Christian Prescott, from a fire. He is in her grade in her new school and is higher on the social ladder than she is, but she still manages to become somewhat friends with him. Meanwhile, there is Tucker, who is her new friends twin brother. After months of misunderstanding each other Clara realizes that she is falling for him.

There is still her purpose that she has to worry about (which she still doesn't know exactly when or where it will take place) but Tucker is slowly distracting her from concentrating on it. So what happens when she has to choose between doing her duty or, not only following her heart, but saving the boy she loves?

My review
My oh my, I loved this book! Not only was it incredibly well written, but the story line was so creative. The plot was great and had very few, if any holes, and the characters were so believable.  I have only read one angel theme book before (Fallen, by Lauren Kate) and was hardly impressed so I was hesitant to pick this one up. Boy am I glad I did! It has a much deeper plot besides "he's cute, I wonder why he likes me? oh he's so cute!" It actually makes you stop and think about how each decision you make affects the rest of your life.  That sounds melodramatic, but really it's SO good!

Characters
The thing that I liked most about this book is that I could relate to it so well. (no I'm not 1/4 angel, although I am quite heavenly to be around...) yes, it was about Clara being an angel, but mostly it was about human nature and relationships and friendship and "what would you do in certain situations?" kind of thing. The author captured what it was like to be a teenage girl perfectly (without all the whinyness) Clara honestly reminded me of ME when I was in HS (angel aside) and I'm sure that's why I liked it so much. The other characters, Christian and Tucker and her friends seemed so real to me too. Much better than main characters in a few other books I've read lately.

Romance
Well, there was no room for insta-love in this book (which was so refreshing!) because it literally takes place over a 7 month span of time. (but she did such a good job writing I never felt like I missed anything) Clara and Christian's friendship developed so naturally and her and Tuckers romance unfolded slowly and they had a chance to get to know each other. So when she realized that she loved him it made sense and wasn't just because he was hot.  There is sort of a love triangle going on, or at least it is set up to go on sometime in future books, but I actually really like love triangles. Call me crazy. But I don't think it will be an annoying one. It's like the triangle is there to add to the story and is actually part of the plot, not just there to add drama. The romance in this story kind of reminds me of the one in The Hunger Games in the sense that it is there and it is awesome, but it's definitely not the whole story.  Which I think is so much better than trying to come up with a plot to fit the love story. That never really works.

Overall
I honestly felt the Twilight tingles coming back as I read this book. If you don't know what I mean, I'm talking about the exciting, pages turning themselves, can't even wait to find out what happens next tingles. Which reminds me that it's a good thing that I don't have to wait very long for the sequel Hallowed coming out this January. Hands down recommend to anyone who loves a good story.
